A good 4-5 day sea kayaking trip - Swedish Skerries Kajakarska wycieczka na szwedzkich szkierach.

The Swedish skerries, countless islands along the eastern coast of this country, are a great place for sea kayaking adventures: close to Poland, cheap and interesting. Of course, this is nothing new for many people, but maybe someone will find my entry useful, especially since there is also some tourist information here.
The Swedesh Skerries are a very safe place for beginner sea kayakers. Depending on the weather, you can hide from the wind deep in the archipelagos and carefully try to get further and further towards the open sea, where there are fewer and fewer islands and the water areas between them are becoming larger. Thanks to this characteristic of skerries, it is possible to gradually correlate the degree of difficulty with your technical skills. This is a place where you can cut the umbilical cord and start independent, multi-day kayaking; without a guide/instructor, but only with a group of friends, etc. With winds above 3B, the biggest challenge will be jumping from one headland to another, so if you lack experience, it is better not to do it by the shortest route, which sometimes come up to a few kilometers; it will be safer to paddle deeper into the bays and cross these "Swedish fjords" in a much narrower and sheltered place. Important - there are practically no tides and tidal currents here.
The Skerries, like all of Scandinavia, are very friendly to campers. You can set up camps anywhere where you do not disturb the privacy of local residents. I like doing it best in nature reserves. Yes, I mean reserves, because it is the most beautiful and wildest there. Of course you have to respect the law. Strict reserves - islands/bird nesting sites are temporarily excluded from any human activity - even landing there is not allowed, during the period specified on yellow and red plates, clearly visible from a distance, which clearly state the period of this prohibition; e.g. 1/4-10/7 - i.e. from April 1 to July 10. When planning, Swedish sea maps at a scale of 1:50 000 are sufficient - they clearly show which islets are within such reserves - video - green border. There are also reserves where you can camp all year round, limited to, for example, one or two consequent days - video. Of course, their goal is not to protect bird breeding in the strict sense, but to protect the entire natural complex of a larger area. There are a number of resting and camping spots with a fireplace, as well as sheds with garbage bins - a great convenience for kayakers - video.
From October to May, we often paddle there alone - us and the wildlife. During our four and a half day cruise, we saw/heard 7-8 watercraft from a distance and 0 in direct contact. It can be cold - temperatures at night dropped to 3-4 degrees Celsius, but the sun was shining throughout the day - you could even sunbathe on the rocks in a swimsuit. In this part of the skerry coast we even have meadows! Point – 28 Askeskar Island is the first example – video. It turns out that cows are brought there since mid-May - four with heifers - information from a nice old lady who was born there and lived there permanently until she was six years old. 1/6 of the island belonged to her parents. Now a pensioner, she was the only "resident" of the island at this time of year. In addition to her "summer home", there are several other ones there.
Point – 15 on Kvado is, in our opinion, the most beautiful campsite on this trip. A meadow with old birches, scattered boulders and lots of blooming primroses - the vegetation period is much delayed compared to Poland - video. Nice places to camp are point - 23 Torroud, a super cozy bay with a shallow approach - only a kayak can pass through the narrowing, and point 13 Brannh with a bench on a rock, a place for a bonfire and a shed with garbage bins - video.
Fyrundden - a small port near Gryt, still out of season (we were last there four years ago) offers a very safe and free parking lot - right by the water next to the marina building. In the video - 11-19 seconds, you can see the sea state with a wind of 12-14 knots - 4B (actual measurement) from a predominantly northerly direction on a section exposed to waves. An inexperienced kayaker(s) should skip such a jump. We followed a course close to the open sea and it was 120 km, but you can explore archipelagos deeper in the bays - the possibilities seem endless.
I encourage you to "skerry paddle"!
