Built a stone's-throw away from the river Seine, this military hospital, necropolis and museum were long associated to the Monarch who commissioned the edifice: King Louis the 14th, of Versailles fame. But after the revolution, the Invalides became synonymous with another French leader: Napoleon Bonaparte
