What makes a home special is not necessarily the place, but the people that live in it. However, I’m sure you all dream of living in a very nice place that reflects your inner personality. Some people want to live by the ocean, and some people want to live by the mountain. Some would prefer a humid location, while others prefer dry destinations. But whatever it is that you want, I’m sure is not as crazy as what I’m about to show you. In today’s video we’ll be looking at “20 Incredible Houses You Won’t Believe Exist.” We’ll look at different corners of the world and find all the quirky and exotic homes that you never thought existed. In the end, I hope you get some inspiration for whatever it is you want your dream house to look like. Let’s begin.

Hobbit House

This list starts in Middle Earth. Nah, not really. It starts in Wales, where some fans of JRR’s Lord of the Rings saga decided to build a Hobbit Home. This warm and eco-friendly living space was built in four months, with the help of friends and under $6,000. It’s on a hill, secluded from distractions. And it was made so its owner and his family can have a pleasant sustainable life. Their energy comes through solar panels and their running water comes from a nearby spring.

Dar Al Hajar

Our list now moves to Yemen, a country in the middle east that we don’t often talk about, but it has a lot of interesting history. It’s as interesting as this rock palace called Dar Al Hajar, which was built originally as a summer home by Imam Yahya in the 1930s. For those of you who don’t know it, an Imam is a leader within the Islamic community. Imam was one of the most famous ones in Yemen; he reigned from 1904 to 1948 and he built this awesome place while in power.

The Wooden Skyscraper

When I think of skyscrapers, I think of big structures made out of glass or steel. I never think of wood as it is not a common material for this type of building. However, there’s this home in Russia that definitely looks like a skyscraper, and surprisingly, it’s made out of wood. It was built by a gangster named Nikolai Sutyagin, and it was supposed to be a two-story building but the plans changed when Nikolai kept adding floors to it. Unfortunately, Nikolai lost most of his possessions and the building while serving time in prison, but he’s still able to live on the first floor with his wife.

Flinstone House

The Flinstones were a popular family on TV in the 60s. This cartoon showed us what it would be like to live in prehistoric times. And you can tell the show had a lot of avid fans to the point that one of them went ahead and built this place in California. They even put dinosaurs and other decorations to make it look as realistic as possible. Some neighbors complained that the house doesn’t meet the standards of the neighborhood, but the current owner doesn’t care and she’ll do whatever it takes to keep this house up.

Hang Nga Villa

Hang Nga was the daughter of Ho Chi Mihn’s right-hand man. And she was the person who built this villa in Dalat, Vietnam. But as you can imagine, this place is also called the “Crazy House.” Just look at the architecture and you’ll realize why they call it that way. If that wasn’t enough, the interior is even crazier. It’s now a restaurant that’s attached to a hotel, but you can still find crazy stuff like an eagle with some red Christmas lights that are supposed to make Americans think of home whenever they visit.

The Eliphante House

Imagine building a house with any random material that you find laying around you. That’s exactly what happened when they started building this place in Cornville, Arizona. Michael Kahn and his wife Leda Livant built this place with rocks and scraps from construction places for 28 years. Additionally, they also made this structure called the “Hippodome” which looks like a hippo emerging from a lake. How creative!

Bubble House

It might look futuristic, but this place was built in the 1970s and it got listed as a “French Historic Monument” before construction was finished. With all of the shapes and strange-looking windows, this place in Tourrettes-Sur-Loup was ahead of its time when it was designed. And the fact that it’s facing the Mediterranean ocean just makes it more appealing to anyone who wants to live near the water.
