Lavaggi LS1 LMP1 [One-Off] Endurance Race Car by Giovanni Lavaggi, V8 Turbo Engine, Imola Circuit

In this video, the car that I propose is the Lavaggi LS1, a prototype sports racing car for Endurance races designed and built by Giovanni Lavaggi. Many of you probably don't know the existence and history of this small builder. Mr Lavaggi, after competing in F1 with the Minardi team at a certain point in his life, decided to fulfil his dream of making his racing car, being himself a mechanical engineer. He then designed a car that competed in the top category, the LMP1, in the "Le Mans Series" from 2006 to 2009. We must say that he was very unfortunate; so many electrical problems and the breakdown of the engines didn't allow Lavaggi to finish the races. The financial crisis of that period and the lack of sponsors also didn't help develop the car. What you see remains the sports car prototype built-in Monte Carlo, and also the white-red livery is a tribute to the flag of that principality. In recent years it has taken part in the various editions of the Historic Minardi Day at the Imola circuit, where we had the pleasure of filming it. It's exactly in the final configuration it raced; adopts a 4.0-litre AER P32C twin-turbo V8 engine and a sequential 6-speed Hewland gearbox redesigned by Lavaggi himself. The chassis is a carbon fibre monocoque, uses Brembo carbon disc brakes with six-piston calipers. The front and rear suspension consist of double wishbones, push-rod actuated springs connected to Sachs shock absorbers and anti-roll bars. The total weight of the car is 925 kg. La vettura che vi propongo in questo video è la Lavaggi LS1, un'auto da corsa sport prototipo per le gare Endurance progettata e costruita da Giovanni Lavaggi. Molti di voi probabilmente non sanno l'esistenza e la storia di questo piccolo costruttore. Il signor Lavaggi, dopo aver gareggiato in F1 con il team Minardi ad un certo punto della sua vita decise di coronare il sogno di realizzare la propria auto da corsa, essendo lui stesso ingegnere meccanico. Progettò quindi una vettura che gareggiò nella massima categoria, la LMP1, nel campionato "Le Mans Series" dal 2006 al 2009. C'è da dire che fu molto sfortunato, tanti inconvenienti elettrici e la rottura dei motori non permisero a Lavaggi di terminare le gare. Anche la crisi finanziaria di quel periodo e la mancanza di sponsor non aiutorono nello sviluppo della vettura. Quella che vedete resta a tutt'ora la prima vettura sport-prototipo costruita a Monte Carlo ed anche la livrea bianco-rossa è un'omaggio alla bandiera del principato. Negli ultimi anni ha preso parte alle diverse edizioni dell'Historic Minardi Day sul circuito di Imola dove abbiamo avuto il piacere di filmarla. Si trova esattamente nella configurazione finale con cui ha corso, quindi adotta un motore un V8 biturbo AER P32C da 4.0 litri ed un cambio Hewland sequenziale a 6 rapporti riprogettato dallo stesso Lavaggi. Il telaio è una monoscocca in fibra di carbonio, utilizza freni a disco in carbonio Brembo con pinze a sei pistoncini. Le sospensioni anteriori e posteriori sono costituite da doppi bracci trasversali, molle azionate push-rod collegate agli ammortizzatori Sachs e barre antirollio.
