WIG CHAT | "My wigs are SOOOO dry-HELP!" Why this common request from wig sisters is hard to address

Hey Wig Sister! It seems like every other day someone posts in a Facebook group or sends me a message on FB or Instagram asking for help with dealing with a dry wig. I have been thinking A LOT about this because I find this question so hard to address adequately yet I want nothing more than to help. The problem is that dryness in a wig is a very subjective thing, and without being able to touch the wig myself I don't know what you mean by "dry". Is the wig actually dry, or does the wig wearer have unrealistic expectations? What exactly is a "dry" wig, anyway? What is dry to you, may not be dry to me.

The, there are a MYRIAD of other questions such as: How many times has this wig been worn? How has the wig been stored? How long have you had the wig? What products do you use on the wig? How often do you put product in the wig? How often do you wash the wig? When was the last time the wig was washed? What are you looking for in your wig fibers (this gets at expectations and level setting)?

At the end of the day, when someone asks this question we don't really know what the real problem is. Until you identify the actual problem any solution offered is just like throwing darts at a dart board. You may hit the bulls-eye, and you may not.

In this video I attempt to address this and share a few tips that I have found work well for me.

My measurements
○ Circumference= 22" (average)
○ Front of Hairline to nape of neck (over top of head)= 12.75" (average is 14.25")
○ Ear to ear over top of head= 12" (average is 13.5)
○ Temple to temple around back of head= 14.25
○ Hairline to eyebrow= 2.5"
○ Hairline to tip of nose= 4.75"
○ Hairline to bottom of chin= 8"
