Live from Mako's Studio: Painting Daffodils with Gold - "Can art do anything for the world?"
Mako continues to paint his daffodils, today using Japanese gold powder used in Nihonga (Japanese style painting) technique and Kintsugi (Follow @academykintsugi on Instagram and Twitter) Academy. He pauses to reflect on how we feel helpless, not being able to help as many "front line" workers are, with "survivor's guilt" after 9/11 and lingering traumas of his days. He refers to Matthew 6 passages in the Bible where Jesus instructs (actually commands) to "consider the lilies" and turns his thoughts on what he learned as a "Ground Zero" resident, doing his quiet work in the studio. This is a message of hope in our darkness.
