Steve Kaufmann is a polyglot and educator. He is from Canada and speaks 16 languages according to his website. He is working on a couple of more languages currently. Steve and I sat for half an hour to talk about learning languages.
I agree with him about the importance of imitation. It is not just about the target language perse. We can imitate how people are in the target culture to fully mingle with local people and enjoy. His Japanese was excellent! We spoke partly in Spanish and Japanese. I look forward to talking with Steve again hopefully in French and Chinese. I am working on these now myself.
