The Age Gap | Anika Kumar | TEDxSDSU

Society is aging now faster than ever, but unfortunately, we live in an ageist world where an increasingly negative perspective on getting old makes this natural biological process incredibly difficult. By perpetuating ageist mindsets, we’re facilitating an ever-widening age gap. Now more than ever, it’s necessary for us to reform our thinking and bridge that age gap. Anika Kumar is a second-year student at UC Berkeley who is very passionate about the older adult population. Outside of school, she runs a nationally recognized intergenerational nonprofit organization called Forget Me Not that aims to remedy social isolation in older adults. In her talk, she will be bringing attention to the issue and implications of ageism as well as what we can do to help combat it.
