Lin-Manuel Miranda says plans are going ahead to bring his musical Hamilton to Australia | 7.30

Watch Leigh Sales's extended interview with Lin-Manuel Miranda.

It's hard to overstate the impact that American composer and lyricist Lin-Manuel Miranda has had on Broadway. His musical Hamilton is arguably the most influential and innovative work since A Chorus Line in the 1970s. He's won a Pulitzer Prize, an Emmy, three Grammys and three Tonys. And since it opened in 2015 in New York, getting tickets to Hamilton has required some serious determination and cash. The show's meant to head to Australia next year, although at the moment its creator is in lockdown like everyone else in New York.

Hamilton tells the story of America's forgotten founding father, Alexander Hamilton, largely through rap and hip hop.
