The Island Line - day out on the OLDEST passenger trains in the UK! & Isle of wight steam railway

Hello everyone and welcome back!

In this video, myself and James travelled to the Isle of Wight for a day out on the Island Line & Steam Railway.

The class 483’s (1938 stock) on the Island Line are sadly being retired at the end of the year, after a whopping 82 years of frontline UK service.

These are the oldest trains in daily use on the UK network and are even older than some of the neighbouring steam railways locomotives!

If you want to visit this charming little line, you HAVE to be quick. You dont have long.

Two trains are currently in daily use - 483006 & 008, but check before you travel that they are both in action as there is currently no backup incase of a failure (unit 007 is still under overhaul)

We also visited the Isle of Wight Steam Railway, which is a very unique experience. Little IOW 4 wheel coaches hauled by a matching Terrier locomotive, a great experience and its VERY well run.

Well worth a visit.
