Lloret de Mar is a municipality and town Spanish in the province of Girona, in Catalonia, located next to the Mediterranean Sea, on the Costa Brava. It belongs to the region of La Selva.

The current nucleus of the population was formed in the 15th century around the beach. Starting in the 18th century, the port of Lloret became increasingly important thanks to trade, of which the houses built by the Indians are a reminder. Many people from Lloret participated in the business that each trip to America entailed and they put money for the construction of the ship or for the acquisition of the merchandise.

The high economic level that had been reached in certain sectors of the Lloret's population (merchants, shipping companies and Americans) favored the demolition of old houses and the rise of small neoclassical, modernist or eclectic palaces. The houses on Paseo del Mar, Calle San Pedro and Plaza de España were built.
