Next-Gen VR Headset With Video See-Through Mixed Reality | CES 2026

At CES 2026 in Las Vegas, I revisited the XEO stand after being told they had something completely new to reveal this year. After covering the XEO Pod last year in a video that crossed 1 million views I had one question in mind: could they really top that experience?

The moment I put on this new 189-gram VR headset, the first thing I noticed was the comfort. It looks like it should feel heavier… but it doesn’t. And once the visuals kicked in, another question popped up: is this what next-gen personal cinema is supposed to feel like?

What truly stood out was the video see-through mixed reality. I could see people around me, have a conversation, and then instantly jump back into my movie exactly where I left it. No resets. No searching for the screen. The display stayed anchored in space, even after I looked away or moved around. That moment made me think: this is where VR starts to feel natural.

With 4K per eye, a wide ~100° field of view, crisp brightness, and seamless spatial anchoring built directly into the hardware, this was easily one of the most immersive and comfortable VR experiences I’ve tried so far. It genuinely felt like stepping into a different environment and then choosing when to come back out of it.

So is this the future of mixed reality and personal cinema? And more importantly… Would you use something like this every day?
