Vegetable Garden Tour 2020 small space~containers

Are you starting a vegetable garden this spring?
Today I'm giving you a quick tour of our greenhouse and all of our "cool season" vegetables we've been growing. We've had this set up for about two years (going into our third summer) and I think I've finally got the hang of these stock tank raised beds.
I'll share how we filled them in a later video. One important tip. They dry out quickly as the metal heats up, so a regular watering schedule is essential.

To expand our planting space, we're adding some wood raised beds. However, I'll probably pick up a couple more of the stock tanks also!

The greenhouse is from Amazon. The cover lasts for two or three years in my experience. However, we take it off during the summer. So in all fairness, putting it on and off isn't what normally happens. The frame is absolutely solid. We screwed it to some 4x4 pressure treated posts at the base. We secured the posts to the ground with rebar first and then screwed the base to it.

I picked up seeds from different places. I always look for Heirloom varieties. In past years, I've saved seeds with great success and plan on doing it again this year. It's a real money saver!
Starting your own seeds is also a money saver. Tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, corn, beans, peas, and all kinds of herbs can be started from seeds. You'll have more plants than you know what to do with! This is great because you can share some with a friend, or even sell them on somewhere like Craigslist or Marketplace!

We're all about "making frugal fun" here at the cottage. A cottage veggie garden can be a great money saver and so good for your health in multiple ways.

I hope you're inspired to have your best vegetable garden ever this year! Even if you only have a balcony with a sunny spot, you can grow some great herbs and vegetables.
