Bioactive Vivarium for Chester the Crested Gecko

This video includes some clips and photos from my most recent project to convert Chester's regular habitat to a bioactive one. I created a false bottom, covered it in weed barrier, and then added substrate to the top of that. The substrate included charcoal, coconut coir, spagnum moss, sand, and orchid bark. Additionally, I added Schefflera and Pothos. I ordered 15 isopods and springtails and released them to their new home. Then finally I added Chester the Gecko.

Overall I think the process went very well, thank you to my dad and uncle for assisting with the false bottom fabrication. Thank you to Apryle for placing the isopod and springtail order. I was very happy to get the project put together right before heading to eastern Washington. I was worried that the little insects might have to sit in a box for a few days, but I was able to get them into the habitat as soon as they were delivered.

I am looking forward to watching the habitat flourish for years to come. I also hope to add some more plants near the top of the habitat as well as some hides and places to climb. It is a work in progress.
