Balaton is Hungary’s second most visited destination after Budapest for a good reason. Hungarians flock here every summer for some outdoor fun.

We visited Lake Balaton on our way to Budapest, Hungary from Novi Sad, Serbia. We’ve been this place for so many times and if you’ve been here then you will understand why we loved to visit here every summer like other European people do. It can be a great destination for travelers looking for a peaceful day trip from Budapest.
Lake Balaton is a freshwater lake in western Hungary. It’s a major holiday destination with beaches, volcanic hills, resort towns and high-rise hotels along its 197km shoreline. The hilly north shore is a wine-growing region, with protected wetlands and hiking trails at Balaton Uplands National Park. The town of Veszprém has a walled Castle district, and 13th-century frescoes at the Gizella Chapel.
