Moon bear walks on grass for first time after 13 years of cruel captivity

Moon bear Kim was rescued from a bear bile farm in Vietnam in August last year.

She had been poached from the wild and spent the next 13 years in a tiny iron cage so that her bile could be extracted for use in traditional medicine.

In all that time she never foraged for foot, walked on grass, felt the sun on her back or did any of the many things bears do in the wild.

But since being rescued by Animals Asia, vets have taken away her pain and Kim is slowly learning how to be a bear again.

This week she set foot on grass in an outdoor enclosure for the first time since she was a cub.
