Florida turtles come in many shapes and sizes. the largest turtle in Florida is the Alligator snapping turtle. however that doesn't mean you should underestimate the size of Florida's common snapping turtles. this is a video about a recent turtle I caught in the swamps of florida.

SNAPPING TURTLE FACTS:
- Snapping turtles are found in fresh water habitats like lakes, rivers, swamps and marshes all throughout North America and Central America.
- Snapping turtles have large heads that are triangular in shape and can range from a brownish-green to an olive-green in color.
- They also have long tails that can be as long as their carapace and can give off a very unpleasant smell.
- Snapping turtles are highly aggressive and will bite if they feel threatened.
- Snapping turtles can grow up to 18 inches, making them one of the largest freshwater turtles in the world.
- They have powerful, sharp and crushing jaws which can easily break off human fingers.
- Snapping turtles are omnivores which means they will eat nearly anything they can find in their environment including plants, insects and small mammals.
