The WPIX 1971 Yule Log Segments

Hi everyone, it's Joe. Merry Christmas!!

Those of you who are familiar with the WPIX Yule Log and more specifically, The Yule Log.com website may know me as the creator of the site which is now owned and maintained by Chip Arcuri. When I first started the site back in 1999, it was pretty lame! To "spark" it up a little, I invited many of you that were faithful "Logaholics" like myself to send in contributions that I could add to the site. Before I knew it, I began receiving video and audio recordings from previous years gone by. Miraculously, one of the submissions I received was an audio cassette copy of the 1971 broadcast. This was transferred from a reel to reel tape. This led me to wonder what the program's video looked like. Unfortunately, no video recordings prior to 1982 were ever submitted to me.
I do however remember that the program did include the dolly in and out shots seen today. So, based on Fred Thrower's memo of what he envisioned for the program along with the audio copy from 1971 and a little Christmas imagination, I put together what I think the opening, breaks and ending may have looked like during that 1971 Christmas Eve airing along with a few surprises at the tail end!

I've seen comments over the years from TV historians echoing my sentiments.
So here it is. I hope you enjoy it and once again, MERRY CHRISTMAS!
