Winnipeg Sews Thursday Tip - Up Your Pressing Game

Thursday Tip // Up your pressing game! (with a clapper, back in stock now!)

You won’t really know the difference until you try it first hand but you can trust us, it makes a huge difference! To be completely honest, I (Hali) had never tried a clapper before and I didn’t really think I needed one in my growing arsenal of sewing tools but - holy smokes! When I tested our sample my jaw actually dropped open and then I laughed really hard because I was just so glad we took a chance and got these beautiful pieces (of art), made by @treevival, exclusively for Winnipeg Sews.

A clapper, also known as a “Tailor’s clapper” is used to absorb heat and steam from pressed seams to make them cool quicker and lay flatter. You can use a clapper for garment sewing or quilting and it is especially useful for thicker materials that are resistant to pressing.

*All of our clappers are handmade in Winnipeg from Manitoba trees that were dying or diseased and needed to be felled.*
