Molly's Mutts: slow blues rendition of "Going Down to Tampa"

Here's one that's special to me - a chance to play an old blues tune. We added it to our set this year and have been playing around with the tempo.

We are Molly's Mutts, a Louisville-based Americana/Roots trio featuring Louisville's well-regarded traditional folk artist Molly McCormack on dulcimers, guitar and vocals; Michael Jackman on guitars, ukulele, dobro, and vocals; and the incomparable David Rodger on stand-up bass.

We're one of the only Americana/Roots groups to feature dulcimer.

Song notes:

As far as I can tell, the first recording of "Going Down to Tampa" was performed by Skoodle Dum Doo & Sheffield, released as a 78rpm shellac record around 1943. It featured Skoodle on vocals and blues guitar and Sheffield on harmonica. The song was released as "Tampa Blues." Our version comes from later lyrics.

Here's an awesome Youtube video featuring the original: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WR5mSEjqIIg
