THE GRAPEVINE |The Dominican Republic & Haiti | Episode 17
Episode 17 is here!
With it being summer time, and with everything being so stressful on American soil, everyone could probably use a slice of paradise. Many people travel to the Dominican Republic because it's one of the most affordable Caribbean islands. What many people don't realize is that the DR is purging the Haitian population. Many of whom are native to DR, but are of Haitian descent, are being forced to return to a land they don't know.
There is an extremely bloody history between the two nations (look up Parsley Massacre, a government-ordered genocide on the Haitian people in 1937).
Many people feel like showing solidarity in not visiting the DR is the first place to start. Haiti is currently building their resort culture, and some feel as though that's a great place to show support for a country that has faced adversity.
