Soviet Afghan War in Urdu/Hindi

Soviet-Afghan war was a nine-year war between the Soviet Union and Mujahideen or rebels. The Mujahideen fought a guerilla war against soviets which irritate them most. The United States provided a lot of help to rebels through Pakistan. The Central Intelligence Agency(CIA) did a long operation named “Operation Cyclone” through Pakistani Inter-Service Intelligence(ISI). The formal rebel start from the 1978 coup when the communist party took power in Afghanistan. The government policies in Afghanistan were so harsh toward the opposition. Many were executed and killed. Daud Khan was killed by Afghan army with the help of Peoples Democratic Party of Afghanistan(PDPA), latter president Taraki was killed by Hafizullah Amin, and Amin was killed by Soviet troops when the Intervene/invades Afghanistan. Soviets called it “Legitimate Supporting Intervention” and wester media called it “Invasion”. As a result of Soviet invasion/intervention, foreign minister of 34 Islamic Countries condemn the soviet invasion and called for the immediate withdrawal of Soviet troops. United Nations Organization also passed a resolution which was passed by l04-18, 104 against invasion and 18 in favor of the invasion. India also favored the invasion. The major reason for war was the inner division of Afghanistan’s politics. The PDPA was further divided into two factions. And even the people of the same faction was rival to each other. President Taraki signed a treaty with the Soviet Union known as “Treaty of Friendship” which allowed Soviet troops to enter Afghanistan if the call for. During the 1970s Afghanistan made a lot of requests to the Soviet Union regarding its military. In the end when Amin’s government was unable to control, soviet intervein and killed president Amin. Mujahideen from around the world participated in this war. The most famous volunteer was Saudi millionaire Osa Bin Ladin. The consequence of this war was not good for both the countries. The Soviet Union was disintegrated and civil war continued in Afghanistan till now. Heavy casualties happened on the Afghanistan side almost 2 million and 5-10 million people became refugees.
