He Was Identified After 45 Years — Now Who Killed Robert Dean Ireland? | Salem County NJ 1979

In 1979, a man was found in a shallow grave off a dirt road in a wooded area near Jericho Road in Quentin Township, Salem County, New Jersey — a gunshot wound to the head, no name, no answers. For over 45 years, he was just a John Doe.

Thanks to investigative genetic genealogy he now has a name: Robert Dean Irelan, who lived most recently in Pleasantville, NJ and was known to spend time in Atlantic City.

But identification is only step one. His killer is still out there.

In this video, Christine walks through the case news, the victimology clues (those painter's pants, the jacket with the gold initial "R" — the details matter), and why every unidentified remains case should be treated as a homicide from day one.
