Mondaino, borgo medievale dell'entroterra riminese, nel 1459 assistette ad un evento storico particolarmente significativo che sancì la pace tra le Signorie Malatesta e Montefeltro. E' per ricordare e ricostruire quel periodo di prosperità che ogni anno si svolge questa manifestazione.
Il "Palio de lo Daino" rappresenta questo momento di festa nel quale le contrade di Mondaino – Borgo, Castello, Contado e Montebello – si sfidano nel palio per aggiudicarsi l’ambito titolo.
Il gioco, in programma nella giornata di domenica, è diviso in due parti. La prima è la “corsa delle oche” a cui segue il torneo vero e proprio, una sorta di “quattro cantoni” in cui ogni volta viene escluso un giocatore.
Per le vie del paese si troveranno più di 100 selezionati artigiani, che daranno dimostrazione della lavorazione dei metalli, dei tessuti, del vetro, della carta e delle pelli per riscoprire manualità ormai divenute rare o perdute. All’interno delle botteghe e lungo le vie del borgo si potranno ammirare all’opera maiolicari, pittori, armaioli, liutai, amanuensi, miniatori e intarsiatori, mentre le melodie rinascimentali verranno riproposte per le strade e le piazze. Der "Palio de lo Daino" steht für diesen festlichen Moment, bei dem die Stadtteile von Mondaino im Palio um den begehrten Titel wetteifern. Das für Sonntag angesetzte Spiel ist in zwei Teile gegliedert. Das erste ist das "Gänserennen", dem das eigentliche Turnier folgt, eine Art "Vier-Ecken-Spiel", bei dem jedes Mal ein Spieler ausgeschlossen wird. Die Straßen des Dorfes werden von mehr als 100 ausgewählten Handwerkern gesäumt sein, die Metall-, Textil-, Glas-, Papier- und Lederarbeiten vorführen, um selten gewordene oder verloren gegangene handwerkliche Fertigkeiten wiederzuentdecken. In den Werkstätten und auf den Straßen des Dorfes kann man Majolikamacher, Maler, Büchsenmacher, Lautenmacher, Amanuensis, Miniaturisten und Intarsienarbeiter bei der Arbeit bewundern, während auf den Straßen und Plätzen Melodien aus der Renaissance gespielt werden.
