John Lennon's long-lost 1962 Gibson J-160E sells for record $2.41 Million!

On Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015, Julien's Auctions sold John Lennon's long-lost 1962 Gibson J-160E acoustic guitar for a world record $2.41 million. The buyer was an anonymous bidder in New York, who supposedly holds one of the world's largest collection of Beatles memorabilia. The price paid for this Lennon guitar shattered the previous record of $965,000, which was the price paid in December 2013 for Bob Dylan's sunburst Fender Stratocaster - the guitar Dylan played at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival. This historic sale of Lennon's acoustic guitar even surpassed the combined price paid for the top two guitars ever sold at auction: Dylan's Stratocaster ($965,000) and Eric Clapton's "Blackie" Stratocaster ($959,000), which combined sold for $1.92 million.
