Marshall McLuhan Symposium, November 28, 2019

A video recording of the Marshall McLuhan Symposium, followed by a reception held November 28, 2019 at the University of Manitoba Archives & Special Collections.

Featured speaker Michael McLuhan, son of Marshall McLuhan, gave an illustrated talk on his father and Winnipeg:" Some Things My Father Told Me."

There was an unveiling of the new bust of Marshall McLuhan, 2019 Winnipeg Citizen's Hall of Fame Inductee, accompanied by the presentation that won the nomination.

Followed by a documentary "Marshall McLuhan Lived Here" (2019) by Jarrett Cole. The Medium and Light Award, which is in recognition of the religious dimensions of the life and work of Marshall McLuhan, will be presented. A soft launch of the McLuhan Faith and Works Conference Proceedings "Of a Certain Winnipigeon and Religion: McLuhan's Faith and Works Conference Proceedings. This finished with a screening of a new abridged version of "McLuhan Unclaimed: I Am a Winnipigeon" by filmmaker Richard Altman.

A reception allowed attendees to visit, discuss McLuhan and see the curated exhibit of Winnipeg related McLuhan archives and artifacts.
