NJ Return to Work Bonus | Return and Earn Program

The New Jersey Governor, Phil Murphy has JUST established a $500 Return to Work Program for NJ residents. Officially coined the Return and Earn Program, this program will employ a $10M Pilot budget from the American Rescue Plan to provide bonuses to new employees on their first paycheck.

Despite there being no unemployment extension update for New Jersey in September or October as of yet, employers are still finding it difficult to fill open positions, as people just aren't returning back to work.

In an effort to alleviate pressures arising from labor shortages and to motivate employees to return to work, this return to work bonus will hopefully make a positive impact. In addition, the NJ state will be paying wage subsidies to employers for up to $10,000 per employee, up to $40,000 per employer to hire and train employees for up to 6 months.

Eligibility for this Return and Earn or Return to Work program requires employees to be residents of New Jersey, start as a fulltime employee and the employer must have 100 or fewer employees and pay at least $15 per hour.

Governor Murphy also said Support Services would be available to workers such as childcare reimbursement and transportation reimbursement.
