I left my heart on Matagorda Island

I went to Matagorda Island because it was a favorite place of my mother may she R.I.P. she often talked about bird watching on this Texas Gulf Coast sanctuary!

I had the time of my life there! Slept right on the beach. Feasted at Poco Playa Beach Camp. Had a lot of fun in the surf watching birds and little Nyx my Bengal cat.

Matagorda Bay is a special place where van dwellers can stay a few nights for free without getting harassed by the local constabulary. You will love Matagorda Island!

Three day maximum stay for campers. There is a park with full hookups but in April of 2023 that will cost you $68.00 a night. Why not stay on the beach for free and listen to the beakers roll in?
