BUILDING A PORTFOLIO - STOCK MARKET FUNDAMENTALS I LOOK AT

When building a portfolio of stocks for long term investing, technical analysis is important, but fundament analysis is definitely more important. There are thousands of stocks in the stock market, many which will only be successful companies for a short time. So fundamental analysis is what investors use to judge if a company will last and continue to be profitable to the share holders over a long period of time. The first fundamental I look at is the balance sheet to find the debt to asset ratio, and levered free cash flow. These 2 fundamentals can help you to pick stocks to invest in that could be great long term investments. When you are buy a stock, you a buying a business, you want to know everything about a business before you buy it especially profitability and future growth. Companies with low debt to asset ratios and free levered cash flow, are usually very well ran companies simply because they have little debt, and are making tons of money. There is a lot of fundamental analysis out there, but most of is not necessary for a beginners to long term investing in stocks.
