Going into a major dental surgery is no laughing matter. All those spinning drills and sharp point metal surgical tools going into your mouth are more cause for tears than smiles, and the dentist asking questions while his fingers are awkwardly stuffed in your mouth is just the cherry on top. But don’t fret, because this magical little anaesthetic can make all those problems fade away!
That’s right! Nitrous Oxide, or as it’s more popularly known, “laughing gas” is a sedative that is widely used in a variety of dental procedures. It allows patients to remain conscious throughout, and its effects don’t last too long, but it’s particularly popular because of the giddy and euphoric feelings it provides. But there’s one important question we need to know the answer to. Does laughing gas block out ALL the pain? After all, if you’re going to be conscious during the procedure, you’d rather hope it does!
In this video, we’ll follow Brainiard as he goes under for his own dental operation. In it, you’ll find out what exactly laughing gas is, how it affects your body, and how long it’s been around for. Then, you’ll find out if there are any safe alternatives (and whether or not you’ll even want to do them). So get your happy faces on, because you’re in for a laugh or two!
