CRIME WAVE Alert! 😨 Foreign Gangs Target Aburrá Valley! 🇨🇴 Security alerts are rising in Medellín and the surrounding Aburrá Valley as authorities report increasing attempts by international criminal organizations to establish a foothold in the region. Groups like Venezuela's notorious Tren de Aragua, Ecuador's Los Choneros, along with Mexican cartels and even European mafias (Italian, Balkan, Spanish, Dutch), are reportedly trying to muscle in, drawn by illicit profits.

These foreign gangs are linked to a disturbing range of activities, including micro-drug trafficking, extortion schemes (even using phone intimidation), theft, contract killings, and arms dealing. Authorities acknowledge the growing threat, highlighting the infiltration attempts by Tren de Aragua and the existing links between the powerful local Clan del Golfo and international players.

In response, police have made dozens of arrests targeting international criminals since last year and are deploying the elite Gaula unit to combat these groups. While the established power of local Medellín gangs makes a complete foreign takeover difficult, the presence and activity of these international syndicates represent a serious and evolving challenge to security in the Aburrá Valley.
