Volvo XC90 Rear Bumper Removal How To Remove DIY 2002-2014

How to remove the Rear Bumper on the MK1 Volvo XC90 2002-2014

There are 2 rivets that require drilling out from underneath the bumper but otherwise the bumper is only held on by 4 13mm nuts concealed in the boot and the bumper is clipped in at the sides.

Open the boot and take up the boot floor.

On both sides of the battery there will be pieces of foam covering the small holes that conceal the nuts for the bumper. The nuts have a large spacers attached to them which means that once loose they don't just fall off the stud. You'll want to use a magnet to extract them though as they can become lost in the shell of the car.

You'll need to remove the fog light assembly and disconnect the parking sensors from inside the car.

Remove the trim corners below the rear lights as there is a protrusion on the bumper that sits behind them. Now you can pry the bumper out from just behind the wheel arch trims.

I hope this video has helped, I rushed a rear bumper removal on my last XC90 and since I bought one again really wanted to make a better video.
