BLV Cube 3D Printer with Misumi frame extrusion - first moves #BLVCube #3DPrinter

BLV Cube 3D Printer with Misumi frame extrusion, drilled and cut by Misumi USA - first movement tests.

No Commentary - Edit (2/12/2021): Seeing as this video is still getting a good amount of views and I now have an amazing amount of printing hours I will work on a video next week. The SLS parts are holding up amazing with no signs of wear, the belts have not had any issue with the split bearing design that worried some builders early on. I did have some magnet issues where I did not get the clearances right, allowing the magnets to break loose over time. I opted to put a magnetic sheet on the bed and that has been fine. I did have some extruder issues with various generic BMG clones, and I even wore out a real BMG! Titan Extruder ran fine.

Maintenance has been easy, switching extruders has not been all that hard. The stock BLV Cube cooling fan setup works well enough for most prints but there are nice mods on Thingiverse that are better. I still have a loose t-nut that will vibrate at certain speeds making the machine louder than it should be. At slow speeds, the machine is fairly equal to my Railcore ii 300ZL.

Build ease: In my opinion, if this is your first printer build or you are still learning to build this machine will be a bit more challenging than say a Prusa. Ben Levi has great directions that if followed carefully will make it easier to construct. I did have to backtrack a few times when working on the X-axis to correct mistakes.

Print quality with the right linear rails is pretty amazing, make sure you opt for good Z screws and nuts to prevent any unwanted z wobble artifacts. I went with MGN15 rails instead of MGN12 on the Z-axis and this produces some of the best-looking prints along that axis very near to the quality produced by a Voron or my belted Z printer. The bed is heavy so adding a bearing on top of the Z stepper will help prevent stress and improve print quality.
