Is Common and Ground The Same Thing?

Is common and ground the same thing? Neutral, common, and ground - is there any difference between them? They are all wired to the same bus bar in the main breaker panel so does that mean they are essentially the same? The answer is yes and no. I say yes because a ground wire really can be used as a common if it is wired to the main panel. Since the neutral and ground bus are connected together. And no because the purpose of a ground wire is to act as a safety not to act as a current carrying return leg. Even though the ground and neutral go to the same place, they have different functions. The ground wire should never be used as a common. And after you are done watching this video hopefully you will understand why.
