Loading Pigs - Pastured Pork Heading To Processing
Loading Pigs - Pastured Pork Heading To Processing. Tonight we are loading our pastured pigs onto the trailer to go to processing tomorrow.
These are our pastured pigs that range from 7-9 months old. They have been on our small local farm for the majority of their lives and its time to take to the butcher to process them for retail sale.
Our pigs live in the woods and on pasture where they get a natural diet of bugs, roots, nuts and other forages which translates to a fantastic pork product. These pigs are a combination of Berkshire, Old Spot, Duroc, Tamworth and Hampshire.
We have moved these pigs into their current paddock so we could set up our loading chute and catch pen to get them into the trailer. The process ended up taking two days but we were able to get everyone on the trailer and to the processor on time.

We practice sustainable agriculture on our farm by using multi-species to build soil and fertilize the ground. We have pastured chickens, grass fed lamb, pastured turkey, farm fresh chicken eggs.
Sheraton Park Farms practices holistic, sustainable farming and soil building using a rotational grazing model as we try to grow more grass on our farm.
