Karate master Joe Lewis believed he was better than Bruce Lee

I know it seems that i a beating a dead horse, but i wanted to weigh in on a video that i came across recently. This video show karate champion Joe Lewis and Bob Wall discussing the flaws in Bruce Lee's fighting, and i just had to say something about it.
I find it very disheartening, many years after the death of Bruce Lee, and especially how much he has done for martial arts in America and the world, to have guys demean his legacy.
On one hand, you here them give him some form of credit, and on the other hand, you hear them say that he was mediocre at best. What is really going on?
Bruce Lee didn't compete in sport Karate events because it was sport, and he focused on real fighting. This is what scared the tournament guys.
