Please check your pets for ingrown nails or dew claws. This can cause them excessive pain while walking and an infection in the paw pads if the nails become embedded. Dog and cat nails should be clipped, grinded down, or both every two weeks or at the least once a month to prevent this.

The owners were told to keep an eye on the pads. If the swelling was not going down or the wounds were not healing then vet assistance would be required. Owners now understand the importance of regular nail clipping and grooming.
