Orphan albino elephant Khanyisa's moments with her future sisters.
Little Khanyisa is getting showered with attention in her morning meet-ups! Especially by Tokwe (the Matriarch)'s daughters.
As you may already know, if you follow her daily adventures, Limpopo (Tokwe's eldest of her two children), is in awe of Khanyisa and does not want to leave her side where possible. Timisa, who is the youngest of the herd and Tokwe's adopted daughter as she is an orphan much like Khanyisa, is also becoming quite attached, and follows Khanyisa almost as much as Limpopo, but would if she could!
Pisa, however, (Tokwe's youngest of her two natural daughters), has not been entirely warm to Khanyisa, and sadly was a little rough with the sweet youngster. She is no doubt envious of the attention that this little newcomer is getting, and not hiding her emotions. But, we expected this from some of the younger elephants.
After some time together with all the herd in the stables, we went for a beautiful walk in the Autumn sunshine with just Khanyisa, Lundi, Bubi, Klaserie, Setombe, Jabulani, Somopane and Sebakwe. The reason we don't take all of the herd yet is that we would prefer for them to have settled down first until we decide to take that next step.
The elephants have found their rhythm with Khanyisa on their walks, and Adine and the team are just loving these memorable moments!
For a bit of a change, they took a different route back past the dam where some of the older elephants enjoyed a refreshment.
