"People Alone", sung by Randy Crawford, composed by Lalo Schifrin (music) and Will Jennings (lyrics), is the original title song from the 1980 film, "The Competition", starring Richard Dreyfuss and Amy Irving as competing pianists who fall in love. This version of the song was nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Song at the 1981 Academy Awards, but the song "Fame" won that year. Jennings won the award in 1983 for "Up Where We Belong" from An Officer And A Gentleman and again in 1998 for "My Heart Will Go On" from Titanic.
