Train Ignalina to Vilnius Lithuanian railways

Vilnius-Turmantas railway is a 147 km long 1520 mm gauge railway line connecting the capital of Lithuania Vilnius with the Turmantas railway station on the Latvian border.
The construction of the Vilnius-Turmant railway line as part of the St. Petersburg-Warsaw railway began in 1859, and the first train passed through this line in 1860. September 4
Currently, the traffic on this railway connecting six Lithuanian municipalities is not intense. There are six diesel trains a day from Vilnius to Turmants, as well as two Vilnius-Ignalina trains. The international train Vilnius-Saint Petersburg was discontinued in 2015. The railroad was also left out of the main freight routes. Although the railway was built as a dual carriageway, currently there are only two roads in the section between Vilnius and Bezdonii.
