Reflecting on Wendy Williams' Career: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
Reflecting on Wendy Williams' Career: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly - Wendy Williams, is a former radio personality now known as a talk show host. Her brashness, honed as a DJ in the 90s and 2000s and then perfected over the last decade on “The Wendy Williams Show,” has made her nearly as much of a celebrity as those she scrutinizes live on camera five times a week. Her relationship with black celebrity culture is paradoxical because she’s both trivialized it by discussing it as gossip and legitimized it by bringing it onto national television. She’s also had public struggles: with being fired and ostracized, with a cheating husband who was also her manager, with substance abuse issues, and her chronic illnesses. Whether we love or hate her, she’s become an unavoidable figure in today’s entertainment industry, so many were shocked when they heard that she wouldn't be able to host her own show’s 13th season back in September of 2021. This video is not intended to be an early eulogy but to discuss Wendy Williams’ unique impact on music, pop culture, and entertainment.
