Lion pride with cubs - at eye level and at very close range

End of October 2021 we were camping at Tamboti Campsite in Onguma Private Reserve. One of the activities that can be booked at the reserve is a visit to the Onkolo Hide, a water-level hide that offers unique views of the passing wildlife at different photographic angles.

This activity is usually organized in the late morning but we also spent an afternoon there, which was very rewarding.

A lion pride including several small cubs approached the waterhole and positioned itself between the hide and the waterhole. On several occasions the lions came right up to the windows of the hide, which was very exciting and at some point even frightening.
