62nd Bay Cities Japanese Community Joint Memorial Day Service

The 62nd Annual Bay Cities Japanese Community Joint Memorial Day Service was held on May 31, 2021, at Woodlawn Cemetery in Santa Monica, California. The event is currently sponsored by the Venice Japanese Community Center and the West Los Angeles Japanese American Community Center. Religious organizations participating in the service include the Venice Hongwanji Buddhist Temple, the Venice Free Methodist Church, the West Los Angeles Buddhist Temple, the West Los Angeles Holiness Church, and the West Los Angeles United Methodist Church. The service takes place at a monument for the Bay Cities Japanese Americans that was originally erected at the cemetery in 1959, and rebuilt in 1994 following an earthquake which toppled over the original monument.
