I am a licensed cosmetologist. I cannot DIAGNOSE a client with anything; however, I am allowed to give my opinion and suggest which medical professional would be ideal. Her doctor did tell her that this could be the result of medication. Even with her hair being up less than a month the scalp is still the same. Her doctor prescribed a (KETOCONAZOLE) shampoo.

Actually, I've been doing hair many years. In addition, I have a cosmetology license. I am more than just a "lil braider." I CAN NOT force someone to remove a hairstyle just because of my title. I do not have anything to do with how long she keeps a style up or how she choose to spend her money. You don't know what she is going through or immune factors that leads to her having her styles up longer than a month. HER SCALP WILL DO THIS IN LESS THAN 2 WEEKS. It doesn't matter if she gets crochets or a style that enables air flow to her scalp. It doesn't matter what I recommend or HIGHLY SUGGEST to a client. If they feel like keeping a style up longer than 1 month is "getting their money worth " then I'm not going to keep going against what they already expressed. Just because they choose to keep styles up longer than a month doesn't mean that I should refrain from doing their hair. Everyone does NOT have the luxury to pay for salon visit monthly or bi weekly. If it bothers you that much that I'm not going to her house and forcing her to come into the shop and spend her money then be my guest and YOU take over on paying for her salon visits. Until then, I will service her according to how she can afford to keep her hair done and continue to service other people who keep their styles up just as long BECAUSE they can't afford monthly salon visits. And by the way, her braids are NOT the reason her scalp has this condition. Her previous stylist should have told her it wasn't the norm. I am the one who told her to check into it with her doctor and I AM the reason why she now has prescribed shampoo to minimize it. This lady has immune/health factors that has a lot to do with why her scalp does this. But hey, I will let her know that you plan to pay for weekly salon visits since it'll make you happy in life since you're so bothered. 🙃
Hey y'all! I'm back with another video! This time I will be removing crochet braids that were in for almost 3 months! I installed these crochet box braids on Christmas Eve 2019. We are just taking them down on March 17. She has a lot of new growth and flakes. Once I removed the braids I ended up shampooing her hair with her prescribed shampoo from her physician. This entire process of removal to new style took several hours. Hair hair is unrelaxed. She typically keeps her styles in 3 months. Taking the styles down sooner would be ideal; however, some clients prefer to go longer.
I did not spend a lot of time scratching the flakes. I have previously uploaded videos for your viewing pleasure.
