Myriad Ali Shah, the Chief Minister of Pakistan’s Sindh province had to violate a law to implement a Supreme Court order. Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed led bench had ordered the Sindh province to award contract of construction of overhead bridges and underpasses to the military run construction company Frontier Works Organization (FWO) to restore Karachi city’s abandoned Circular Railway. The court had issued contempt of court notice to the chief minister for not doing so. In his reply to the contempt of court notice the chief minister told the apex court that he had complied with the order of the honourable court but not without violating the public procurement laws of the province.
