The TDI is probably the Jetta that most people are curious about in the U.S. since diesels are still a bit of an enigma in mid-size cars here in the States. The Jetta SE with the 1.8-liter four-cylinder turbo is still the sales leader in volume and represents what you will find for a more competitive price against Camry, Sonata, Optima, Accord, Altima and Malibu.

The Jetta has significantly grown over the years, but in the latest generation design it has also become equipped with more personality...or perhaps a better word is edginess. With a few more hard edges and a simple, yet well appointed interior, the Jetta is a serviceable business persons mid-size sedan.

Nearing $24,000 the 2014 Jetta SE offers more room than you might expect, but might be missing some key features when pitted against the Korean brands of Hyundai and Kia. The big differences will be in fit and finish and the driving experience.
