Dutch Sheets: Judah – He Trains My Hands for War (Psalm 144:1)
Dutch speaks on 6/28/2019 at the Appeal to Heaven Conference at Grace City Church in Harrison, AR. Quotes: “How many know what Judah means? It really doesn't mean praise. Praise is a derived meaning because in this picture language the word literally means to extend the hand. Now in In the context of worship since we lift our hands, it became a word for praise. But since it means to extend the hand, it also means to throw a stone. Years before Goliath, out there on the hillside David is deciding, “What weapon am I going to get proficient with?” Maybe he said, “Well I’m from the tribe that throws stones. I'll just become proficient throwing stones because that's who I am in my DNA way back in my history. When he went to face the giant, all David did was step into his historical God-given DNA. You come at me with a sword and a spear. I come to you in the name of the Lord with a sling, because I’m from the tribe that extends hands in battle.”

Be blessed.
Remember: you have been “blessed to be a blessing.” (Genesis 12:2)

My daughter came to me a few years back, she's very prophetic.
She said, “I heard the Lord say tell you to go back
and read the story of David and Goliath, study that story.
God wants to talk to you there.”
I just thought, “Well I know
everything to know about that story.
I've heard that story for 60 years.
I didn't tell God, I didn't want
to hurt His feelings. I didn't want him
to know what I was thinking.
Bless his heart I didn't want hurt Him.
I looked at it again saw
it from a completely new perspective.
David conducted that whole battle based
on his history.
David was an outcast.
He wasn’t invited to the
lineup when the prophet was called to anoint one
of this Jesse's sons to be the next king.
David wasn't even called.
The passage says, “the youngest one”
The word doesn't
literally mean the youngest there it
means the misfit, the worthless one.
Many Hebrew scholars believe David was their
half-brother, the product of Jesse and one of the
servants and as such he had no inheritance with
the brothers.
He came to the battlefield and
starts asking questions about this giant.
David's response was, “Is there
not a cause?” And cause there's a very
interesting Hebrew word.
It can mean several things.
Not just, “Isn't there a cause here worth dying for?
The word means, among other things, “history.” .
David literally may have been saying to
his brother, “Is there not a history?”
There are some promises in our past
that give us the power, the strength, the
authority, the favor, the blessing of heaven that we need in
order to deal with this giant.
The location of the battlefield
was in Judah, a valley there
in the territory of Judah which was
David's tribe.
David is saying, “I'm going to win
this battle because this is my land,
given to me by God. And you can't have my
land. I have a divine right to this dirt
and you've are trespassing.”
Now if you don't know what to do with that when you
pray for America, then you’re probably
in the wrong room.
David would never refer to the
giant by name.
He called him the uncircumcised Philistine.
This is David's way of saying,
“I'm in covenant with God, you're not.
Therefore I win, you lose. End of story.”
When David heads to the battlefield
he grabs his staff.
In that day men carved their history on their
staff. You could take a man's staff and
you could look at the pictures on there
or the words and you could you could
read his life story.
David said I have a history with God.
I killed the bear and then a lion.
When you grab your history and
decree it something is released in the
spirit realm for God to do it again.
There's one more thing.
How many know what Judah means?
It really doesn't mean praise.
Praise is a derived meaning because in this
picture language the word literally
means to extend the hand. now in
In the context of worship since we lift our hands,
it became a word for praise.
But since it means to extend the hand, it also means
to throw a stone.
Years before Goliath, out there on the
hillside David is deciding, “What
weapon am I going to get proficient with?”
Maybe he said, “Well I’m
from the tribe that throws
stones. I'll just become proficient
throwing stones because that's who I am
in my DNA way back in my history.
When he went to face the giant all David
did was step into his historical
God-given DNA. You come at me with a
sword and a spear. I come to you in the
name of the Lord with a sling it's not a
slingshot as a sling and I'm just going to
be Judah that's all I need to be. I'm
just going to tap into my inheritance.
