Why everyone hated GHOSTBUSTERS

Back in 2016, Sony decided to release on to the world the rebooted Ghostbusters movie. A decision that many wished they hadn't. Even before it was released it got a lot of negative attention. From people who hated the idea of a beloved film series being remade/rebooted, to others claiming the only reason for someone not to like it is because that person is a sexist, misogynist, that hates women, and doesn't want to see women in lead roles.

But now, 4 years later, after all the dust has settled and all the smoke has cleared, what exactly was Ghostbusters, and did it deserve all that hate?
