Join ex-submarine commander John Dikkenberg on a fascinating 360 Degree Virtual Reality tour of submarine HMAS Onslow moored at the Australian National Maritime Museum in Sydney's Darling Harbour.
HMAS Onslow is part of the maritime museum's brand new $12 million immersive experience Action Stations where visitors can climb aboard three ex-navy vessels and discover through film and interactives the inner workings of Navy life like never before. This unique tour offers the rare chance to 'step inside' a decommissioned Royal Australian Navy submarine and be guided by an expert submariner who lived and breathed the operations of a cold war submarine.
This video takes you through three operational sections of the submarine and features demonstrations, animation and archival sequences from the National Film and Sound Archive which bring the submarine to life.
Created in conjunction with Ensemble and in partnership with Beyond Australia, the makers of MythBusters, the project is one of the first of its kind in the country and is at the cutting edge of technological development and storytelling techniques.
