Pakistan Election Results 2018: Imran Khan's PTI leads in 121 seats; FULL COVERAGE from 8 am to 9 am

Cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party is leading in the 11th general elections of Pakistan followed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), while Pakistan People's Party (PPP) is at third spot. PTI has claimed victory despite serious questions being raised over the authenticity of the election process. Sensing victory, PTI supporters across the country erupted in jubilation.

However, the victory and joy in the PTI camp appeared premature as the incumbent PML-N and Bilawal Bhutto's Pakistan Peoples Party rejected the results. Khurshid Shah of PPP was quoted as saying, "Our polling agents were not given results and we will not accept it." Meanwhile, PML-N president Shahbaz Sharif alleged that the election process was "blatantly" rigged. He warned of protests. According to report, analysts predicted tumultuous weeks ahead for Pakistan as a strong opposition to the election results was building up.

Voting began at 8 am (local time) on Wednesday, during which most of Pakistan's 106 million people came out to cast their votes. Polling took place in the country's 85,307 polling stations, out of which 17,007 were declared as "highly sensitive." The final results are expected to be out today. However, the results of the general elections were delayed due to a software error, the Election Commission of Pakistan on Thursday.
